The Road to Safe Weight Loss

Despite the numerous ads on the internet, television, and all types of media, weight loss is only effective when done correctly. That means losing no more than 2 pounds per week—a weight loss that is attributed to the loss of fat and not lean tissue. Such drastic drop in the body mass is an unsafe practice that could be detrimental to your own health.

Successful Weight Loss
Oftentimes, the biggest mistake that most people make is to starve themselves to death, fasting and even eating only a single meal each day for the sake of an immediate weight loss. This leads the body to enter into starvation mode, a state wherein the body is accustomed to extended periods of low caloric intake that it uses body fat to fuel for its energy needs. Once body fat is depleted, it will turn to burning protein from lean muscle resulting to muscle wasting and slow metabolism which will in turn slow down your ability to lose weight in the future. This will also cause you to experience rebound weight gain that is faster than how it was lost.
Safe weight loss comes with patience, perseverance, discipline, and commitment to one’s own fitness goals. There is no such thing as a miracle pill that will help you shed those pounds in days. And there will be plenty of temptations along the way. Even your very own friends and families can sabotage your weight management program. In that case, the key is to inform them of how committed you are in accomplishing your weight loss goals.
When it comes to losing weight, there is a point where you tend to forget that exercise is an important component in a weight management program as it offers several advantages over dieting alone. It might take time to notice any difference, but in the long run your body will thank you for keeping it fit and healthy.
